Blog 1: Our Original Story - Finding Our Roots in American Music

Welcome to our musical odyssey. It's not just a journey through the vast landscapes of the South but a deep dive into the roots that have nurtured some of the most influential music in American history. We're Jeff and Diane, the duo behind My Forever DJ, and we're here to share our adventure, the genesis of our project, and the music that inspires us.

Our trip began with a simple idea: to explore and record music that speaks to the heart of American culture. We transformed our car into a mobile recording studio and set off, not just to see the sights, but to immerse ourselves in the sounds that have shaped genres and generations.

Lake Martin, Alabama was our starting point, a place as serene as it is steeped in history. It's where Hank Williams, Sr., found inspiration for his timeless classics, and where we found a connection to the soulful strains of the past. Our rendition of "That's Alright Mama" and "Hound Dog" echoes the spirit of Elvis Presley, a figure whose impact on rock and roll is monumental. Meanwhile, "Honky Tonk Woman" by the Rolling Stones captures the essence of our adventure – a nod to the influences that transcended borders and brought us the rock, blues, and soul that define us.

Each location we visited added layers to our understanding and appreciation of this rich musical tapestry. From the birthplace of Elvis in Tupelo to the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, we walked in the footsteps of giants, recording and reflecting on the power of place and song.

This project is more than just a collection of covers. It's a tribute to the pioneers who laid the groundwork for everything that came after. It's about tracing those lines back to their origins and discovering how they weave through our own stories and sounds.

We hope this blog serves as a gateway to our experiences and the music that has fueled our creative journey. It's not just about where we've been, but about where we're all going, together, through the shared language of music.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. It's been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of our lives, and we're thrilled to share it with you. Here's to finding our roots, and to the music that guides us home.

Until next time, Jeff and Diane
